Long Hard Day of Decluttering on Day 22

It was another long hard day of decluttering and feeling like I’m making no progress.  It’s a good reminder that I just wasted another entire day moving around STUFF!! I have so many other things that I need to get done this weekend that it’s frustrating that I’m spending it doing this.  I think if I could see a difference, I wouldn’t feel so bad about it but my living room is still completely full.  How many more hundreds of things do I have to get rid of before you’ll be able to tell that I’ve done anything at all?

I have to leave in a few minutes but here’s what I’ve accomplished for today: (not enough in my opinion!)

  • 1937 Ford Pickup Model Truck
  • Camouflage purse
  • Mustard color purse
  • Aqua-Tech Fish tank filter cartridge
  • Pink croc shoe
  • Taco holder
  • Christmas word search
  • Ribbon
  • Magnet
  • 2 pink plastic spoons
  • Makeup
  • Nightlight
  • CD
  • Daffy Duck Head from a bobblehead
  • Silver tarnished fork
  • Nail polish
  • Black shoe
  • Back of envelopes – I’m so tempted to count every one of them!
  • Notebook
  • Instruction book for a saw
  • Pampered Chef pump – I love this but it’s old and gooey and I know that I have a new one somewhere
  • Big bag of labels/stickers – I’d love to count each one of these too!
  • Date Me Tupperware Planner from 2014 – Tupperware knows how to do planners.
  • Poster of Zach Efron
  • Packet of information from our 4-H horse project
  • 2 Black cookie platters
  • Paint stick
  • Christmas word search
  • Pack of Christmas cards
  • Blue around the neck card holder
  • Yellow around the neck card holder
  • Shoe
  • Necklace
  • Pair of earrings
  • Playing card
  • 18 Connector toys
  • Barbie fashion plate
  • Yarn
  • Backpack tag hanger
  • Rubberband
  • Watch
  • Alarm clock
  • Plastic snake
  • 3 army guys
  • 2 Lincoln Logs
  • 2 Nerf foam pieces
  • Little plastic barrel
  • Photo gift pack
  • Tupperware catalog
  • Paytech Magazine
  • US Weekly Magazine
  • Cable
  • T-Shirt
  • 20 K’nex pieces
  • Gold microphone ring
  • Marker
  • Flag – This is a flag for a Little Tikes Ride On Toy but I was looking for a flag for my pony cart so I bought it.  Then I gave the pony and the cart back to the people that I got them from because I just didn’t have the time I needed to spend with the pony.
  • 11 Ink Cartridges for a Cannon Printer.  These might have to go on eBay because one of them has a $29.99 price tag on it.  They were given to me so I’m not sure how old they are.  Maybe I could sell them for 5 or 10 dollars.
  • 3 Rawnola Bars
  • Halls Cough Drops
  • Brad’s Raw Chips
  • Maca powder
  • Some Goji berries
  • Snowman cookie cutter
  • Hand saw

  • Horse shoe frame
  • Ear plugs

130 Things!!

decluttering challenge day22day22-3My last count after 21 days of decluttering was 993 things.  Now here’s another 130.  It sounds like so many.  I don’t get why you can’t tell when you come in my house.  I’ll keep at it but I hope you can start seeing a difference soon.

Counting is helping me tremendously.  I love knowing that there’s 1,123 things from in my house that I will never have to pick up again!  What a relief!  I don’t know why I love that thought so much but I do.  That’s one thing that has made a lot of sense to me.  If it’s not in my house, I don’t have to be responsible for it or pick it up or find it a home.  Love it!

I almost forgot to mention.. I found an Amazon gift card with $5.26 on it and a Target gift card with $1.74 and a Walmart gift card with $2.79 on it.  It’s not a lot but hey, it’s something!

    • Thanks! I’m trying to aspire to your 12,000 things. I’m very intrigued by that. I told one of my kids that and she said we don’t have that many things and I said, “Oh, you just wait and see. I’m pretty sure we do!!”

  • I wonder if it would help to think of what your want to keep instead of thinking about what you want to give away. Example, in one room decide what you are going to keep and move it to another room or to boxes… Then get rid of everything else. It’s an idea anyways.

    • I think that will work better once I’ve gotten rid of some of the extra stuff. Right now there’s just so much that I don’t even know where I would start.
