Day 20 of the 21 Decluttering Challenge

This post is dedicated to Melinda at purpleslobinrecovery who kept pointing out the single socks in my piles of stuff to get rid of.

Here it is.  Day 20.  Throwing all of these things away makes me very very happy.

Ready?

  • 118 Socks

Plus

  • 1 Pair of Tights
  • 1 Glove
  • 1 Pair of socks
  • 3 Bras (sorry, no pics of those… lol)

decluttering challenge day20-2As soon as I finished taking the pics, I loaded them up and threw them in the trash!  I can’t say that I’ll miss them at all.  I’m pretty sure that I’ve thrown away over a thousand socks.  I’ve wasted way too many hours of my life trying to match them up.

  • Ooops – one more thing – tights? Aren’t they called panty hose in the US? I used to get laughed at for saying ‘tights’ when I lived in Canada. Or are you a secret Brit? 😀 Or are tights something else in the US? Maybe leggings?

    • Tights are like panty hose but they’re thicker and usually a different color, like pink. Panty hose are also called nylons and they’re the ones that are thinner and mostly skin colors. That’s what my mom called them when I was growing up so that’s what I call them! Leggings are kind of like tights but they don’t have feet.

  • Yes yes YES! To the wasted sock matching hours. Me too! I had a bag in my sock drawer especially for odd ones. It would get filled up and then I would periodically spread them out on the bed and have a pairing session. And guess what – socks rarely matched. How does that happen?!!!! So now, single socks get thrown out. No messing – if you don’t have a partner, just get the hell outa my life!
