Less Stress at the Fair This Year?

You betcha!  The fair is going much smoother this year thanks to the new trailer and the current decluttering effort.  The last couple of years, we’ve had to rip the entire front porch apart to find the fair supplies – bridle hooks, saddle rack, bath supplies, staplers, and extension cords.  We always thought we were doing good by keeping them all together but then we could never find the stash when fair time rolled around.  The front  porch usually ended up all over the living room.  It was a disaster waiting for us at home after five days of excessive heat, sweat, storms and grouchy kids and horses.

This year, the fair supplies were together as usual but we were able to find them right away!  No searching involved and no front porch in my living room.  Most of the other horse supplies were already in the trailer so that wasn’t a big deal either!  Every day for a week I was asking if we needed to plan anything.  Each time, the answer was no.

The Terrible Start to Fair Week

It was a welcome relief this year and even more so when Monday morning rolled around.  The first day of fair week, I was scheduled to work.  On my way there, I usually stop for cappuccino but some reason, I just wasn’t in the mood.  It was 5:15 by the time I got there and by 6:00, I was in a lot of pain.  Thankfully, I work across the street from urgent care.  They open around 7:45 so I figured I could wait and then go over there when they opened.  By 6:30, I couldn’t take it anymore and headed to the ER.  It turns out to be a kidney stone but thankfully it wasn’t too big and I just had to endure another 5 hours of pain.  A friend took the kids to judging and we all survived.  I was so glad that there wasn’t a million things that still had to get done because they might not have.

We had some stormy weather last night but other than that, things are going pretty smoothly.  Just a few more days and it will be another year of fair in the books!
