Getting the Water Out of the Swimming Pool

Friday is the day!  All week long I’ve been trying to figure out how to get the toxic water out of the swimming pool.  I’m not a swimmer.  Right from the beginning I said that someone else was taking care of the pool or we weren’t putting it up.  It sat neglected all winter and all spring and now it’s like a pool of black toxic yuck.  I said I wasn’t taking care of it and I haven’t.  Now it’s my problem.  The biggest swimmer in my family has been “thinking” about how to get the water out for literally 4 months now.  Am I a little bit mad?  Of course!  But I figured it out and now it will probably take a couple days but I’ll get it done and then I will feel so much better.

First I found the submersible pump. It was all hooked up to a hose that was looped through the rafters in the basement. I wasn’t pulling that all out so I just twisted that hose off. Next, I went outside and found a different hose and connected that one. Plugged it in and voila!  It sure didn’t take 4 months to figure that one out.   I don’t want to flood the neighbor’s house so I’m running it for about an hour at a time and then giving it some time to soak into the ground. I hope it doesn’t take too long to get it all out.

  • That’s the way it was at my house. Kids wanted a pool, claimed they would be in it every day. They used it maybe 8 times and then it was, too hot out, too windy, on and on. So I sold it.
