Toy of the Day – Polly Pockets

polly pockets

We brought down two plastic bins from the storage room to go through tonight.  There were a lot of toys that went right into the get rid of pile.  I was able to get consolidate the two buckets into one pretty easily.  It went a lot smoother than the last two nights.  I was really struggling.

The toys that really stood out tonight were Polly Pockets.  Parts and pieces are scattered all over these many bins that I have packed full.  Somehow, all these Polly Pocket sets ended up in one of the buckets.  They are so cute!  None of them went into the get rid of bag.  The one I found yesterday had a bunch of the little tiny Polly Pocket people in it and these bins had all the houses.

I also found a few more Beanie Babies.  I was surprised that I found one of the ones that was listed in an article that Lauren from Flip This Rental posted in a comment recently.  According to the article, you can make a lot of money selling certain Beanie Babies.  I don’t believe the article but it was fun looking through the list seeing which ones I have.  I think there’s 2 that I don’t have out of 11… Snort and the pumpkin one. The one that I found tonight was Claude the Crab.  It doesn’t have the hanging tag on it so it wouldn’t be worth more than about two dollars.

The one thing that is surprising to me that my kids seem to have no problem getting rid of is stuffed animals, the non-beanie baby type. I used to have the hardest time getting rid of them.  Most of them are so cute and they all have that look in their eyes that make it impossible to get rid of them.  We’ve gotten rid of a lot of them already.  If they say something is okay to get rid of, I let it go most of the time.  A few things like Polly Pockets have to stay.

My living room has six garbage bags full of stuff to get rid of in it.  I’m thinking of doing a free table before looking for donation places.  I’m more than happy to put the stuff out front and let people take it.  I don’t think that one table is going to be enough.  It will have to be a couple big tables.  I’m picturing my whole front yard set up with tables actually.  There’s so much to get rid of that I could set the whole thing up like a rummage sale but put out my FREE STUFF signs.  There’s a few really nice things that I’m going to try to sell online before giving away.

I have some Pokemon play sets that look like Polly Pockets.  Looking for them online reveals that they’re not worth a ton of money but I could probably make a couple dollars on them. They are still in their original packages.  I love finding stuff like that amongst the disaster.

  • I’m glad you liked the article! I also used to really love Polly Pockets. I never had a ton, but I had a friend that did. All the pieces are so tiny that I’d imagine you could be finding their shoes in your house forever! Lol
