Two Steps Forward, Twenty Steps Back

Is there no end to all this stuff?  Every time I think I’m getting ahead, another mound of stuff appears out of nowhere.  Ok, it really wasn’t out of nowhere, it was out of my truck this time.  Why does anyone have this much stuff in their vehicle?

Last fall, shortly after the fair, the transmission went out on my truck.  The truck was jammed full of horse tack, show clothes, chairs, umbrellas, and a ton of decorating things that my mom insisted on giving me even though I told her that I didn’t want  them.  It was easy to leave it all in there since I really didn’t have any place to go with it in the house anyways.

Today, out of all days, someone wanted to buy the truck so I had to clean it out.  It was a good thing that I had just cleaned off half of the porch so I had some place to go with it other than my living room floor but it still really upset me.  Before I found out about the truck, I had plans of cleaning out the other half of the porch today or at least get a good start on it, maybe finishing it by this weekend.  Now, I’m right back where I started from a few days ago with an even bigger mess.

At first, I was really mad because I was looking forward to the porch being cleaned off but then I decided to look on the bright side.  I was getting rid of the old truck that has been sitting in my driveway, probably getting all the neighbors mad.  In two months, the horse shows start again so I need to start taking inventory on what we have and what we need for this year.  Now I have to deal with it instead of procrastinating any longer.  And lastly, I will be getting a different truck soon which is a good thing and I should be happy about it. I’ve been driving this one for over 12 years.

  • It could also be a good reminder for next time… don’t let too much stuff pile up in the car! My car is actually very clean because it’s very small and I make sure I don’t keep stuff in there that isn’t needed (I haven’t always been this way but since i got this car, I made sure i keep it clean and tidy). Currently, there are a few things in the glove compartment, a few coupons in one of the side doors, reusable bags in the other side door, and the trunk has about 3 towels and a blanket. That’s it!

    • A big problem is all the horse stuff. I try to keep it all together but it usually ends up all over the place. I need to figure out a way to keep it from taking over the new vehicle. I’ll have to think about it some more.
