After 3 months of illness in this house, it was time to buy a countertop dishwasher.
This house didn’t have a dishwasher when we moved in. I’ve been handwashing dishes for the past two years and I’ll still be washing all the pots and pans but I had to try something.
Not saying that handwashing isn’t as sanitary as a dishwasher but sometimes they just didn’t feel as clean. And the fact that everyone kept getting sick over and over and over really made me think about it.
So I finally got one! It’s a Black & Decker. It’s small but I was thinking that I could at least wash the silverware in it and run it through on the sanitize mode. There’s seven different modes you can run it on.

Well, tonight for the first load, I actually got quite a bit in it!
For being a countertop dishwasher, it actually holds a lot. It says that it holds 6 place settings but I don’t do place settings so that didn’t matter to me.
I got all the silverware, a small cutting board, lots of serving utensils, 2 cups, the silverware holder, a lunch dish, a gravy pan, and a couple other things in it. I was very pleasantly surprised!
It does run for a long time but so did my regular dishwasher at my old house. No drying really but that’s okay. I’m not planning on using them tonight anyways.
I don’t have it on a counter either so it’s not taking up space in the kitchen. I have a laundry room attached to the kitchen so it’s sitting right on top of the tub in there. It kind of works out perfectly. I had to wait a few days until we got the right adapters but it was worth the wait.
I’ve been spending a little time in the kitchen every day this week and it’s actually half way decent for once.
