It’s day 5 of my bedroom decluttering adventure. While I procrastinated and didn’t do nearly as much as I should have today, it opened my eyes to some very overwhelming things.
First of all, there’s no way that I’m going to finish this by Monday. I’m thinking that it might take the whole month of January. Looking at the piles of clothes on the dresser and the mountain of stuff on the floor, I get that very strong feeling of being overwhelmed with it all.
Secondly, I have way too many clothes that don’t fit. While I don’t have a lot of control over my weight because of my thyroid disease, I can still eat healthier than I have been lately.
So while I’m not finishing today on a high note, I did get rid of some clothes. I made sure to fill the basket up again before stopping.
- 15 pairs of pants
- 2 sets of pajamas
- 2 undergarments
19 things for today
(Look Purpleslobinrecovery, no socks today!)
Total After Day 5 = 235
I’m still surprised at how quickly it’s adding up. I wasn’t expecting to get over 200 in 5 days. Like last time though, these 235 things haven’t made much of a dent. I think a few more hundred will do the trick.
Grand Decluttering Total – 1,712 things that I never have to pick up again.
WOW!!! So proud of your accomplishment! Tomorrow we are starting a new chart for 2017. It amazes me how much stuff we have. I really wish I had started counting before we did.
Me too!! I probably gave away a couple thousand things before I started counting.
Woo hoo! 200 in 5 days is A-MAY-ZING!!
Yay for no single socks today!! Thanks for the shout out!
Again, I notice that beautiful floor in the picture!!! Are you doing well in not buying more stuff? I think sometimes that can be the harder part!
Thanks!! I still can’t believe I lived with that old carpet for as long as I did! Such a difference. Christmas didn’t really help with the decluttering but I think I did okay only getting the things that the kids really wanted or needed. So thankfully, most of it has left the living room already. I used to sometimes get them junk just so they had stuff to open and then it would sit here for months.
No single socks? With the way you roll, I bet your socks have gone into hiding 😉
On the overwhelming note: just remember, slow and steady will get you there… one sock 😏 at a time, and before you know it you’ll be able to breathe in a cheerful, clean and decluttered place 😀
And in the meantime, while you are working on it, we will be there, working along with you on our clutter too (at least, I know I will, because I’m not even close 😳)
Big hug
