The last circuit show of the year didn’t go so well. Showing was going okay but when my daughter asked for a canter, the pony said no. She did a little jump, planted her front feet and let out a buck. My daughter went over her, landed on her head and then flipped over. She’s okay but it was very scary!
Thankfully, we have a great group of people in our horse project. One of the moms is an emergency room nurse and she was there in a flash helping my daughter. One of our young alumnis is also a nurse so she came right away too. They were so good and kept everyone calm until the paramedics got there. Other people came and helped with the horses.
Another thing I was grateful for was that Flash has gotten so good at loading into a trailer that it was no problem for our friends to load him up to get him home. While they waited for our friend to get there, the 4-H kids all made sure he had everything he needed.
We were only at the hospital for a couple hours while they did a few tests to make sure nothing was broken. She had a mild concussion and a headache to go with it but that was it. She’s very sore today but we’ll take it! It could’ve been so much worse!!
sounds like you have a good support team. always good to get a fall checked out medically when a rider has landed on their head or does not bounce right back up in the blink of an eye. Good to know she is OK.
Oh, no! That can not have been a fun moment for any of you watching that happen or for the poor girl. I’m glad she is OK
Thanks! It was scary!
I’m so glad to hear she is fine. How scary!

Wow!! how awful!! Thank God she’s ok!! Quick response times help so much!!
Yes!! I’m so thankful there were a couple nurses there who knew right what to do!
Oh no! Glad your daughter is ok but it must have been horrible when it happened.
