Maybe I shouldn’t admit this but I’m a Pokemom… I play Pokemon Go with my kids. (I wonder how many other moms have written this exact thing in the last three days!) I think it’s a great thing to do with your kids. We’ve been walking all around the park and gotten plenty of exercise and sunshine. Much more fun than sitting around staring at the TV or computer screen. You wouldn’t even believe how many people are here playing this goofy game. I can see at least 40 people from the picnic table I’m sitting at. I wonder how long this will last before people get sick of it. Our freeways even have the electronic boards that say “Drive now. Catch Pokemon later.”
It’s such an interesting concept. I’ve been too busy to keep up with all the online talk about it but I keep seeing little news bits about people getting into accidents or getting hit by cars while they’re playing. My mom even told me that a girl at the post office walked right into her today because she was playing. Oops! I don’t know how they’re doing it because I have a hard time logging in because of the overloaded servers.
Some people may be disgusted that so many people, even adults, are walking around staring at their phone screens but hey, it’s something different to do for a little while. I love that it’s getting people out of their houses and into their communities, especially when it’s as a family. It’s neat that it uses your local landmarks too. If you wanted to make it a little more educational, after you’ve visited the landmarks, you could head to the library and do a little research on it. Do something different. It’s summertime. Enjoy it and be a Pokemom!
