With a lot of people in the house right now, our “keeping the house clean” skills are being tested, along with our patience.
We’re struggling the most in the kitchen. The rest of the house is fine. The in-laws were inviting people over the other day and saying okay was easy!
I think the kitchen is the worst because it’s the room with the most things in it. The refrigerator is overflowing. The cabinets are full but not quite overflowing but the dish rack is.
Too many dishes available to use and people tend to grab something clean rather than wash something that’s dirty.
The way to beat this is to wash at least a few dishes every day, even if you don’t do them all. This really should be a priority but I don’t always practice what I preach on this one. I’m working on it though!
My bathroom that normally has nothing in it now has a bunch of stuff. It’s not too much but it’s still more than nothing. Spending a few minutes straightening up the bathroom goes a long way also!
Yesterday, I was starting to feel like my office walls were closing in on me so I spent about a half hour working on it last night. It felt so much better when I walked in there this morning!
I love having family here. It’s something that I couldn’t do at the old house which makes it even better. It’s been over 3 weeks now and things are still going okay. I’m pretty sure it’s because we aren’t contending with too much stuff here.
Cleaning when other people are around is hard for me and since there’s always people here, things are starting to look like they could use a good cleaning soon. In the next few days, I might get a couple of hours when I can work on it. That’ll be nice!!
At least time is going quickly.
The in-laws are leaving in less than a week. I think we’re going to make it!
Keeping the house clean while they’ve been here has been easier than I thought it would be!
