New Morning Routine

Today I’m trying something new. It’s a morning routine. So far, so good. I’m taking this rare opportunity of being at home and not having to rush off to work to figure out what’s been bothering me so much the last few years. I just haven’t been myself.

As I was listening to a podcast yesterday, I wrote down the steps. Most people probably already know it. I’ve heard it many times before and just haven’t had the time to make it work. Time management has been a huge struggle for me lately. It feels like I wake up and then a little while later it’s time to go back to bed and I can’t figure out where those 19 hours in between went.

Back to the morning routine. And in case you were wondering, yes, it’s the Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. I don’t have the book YET so I’m only going off of the 20 minute talk he was giving yesterday. The same one that I’ve heard over and over and never acted on, until now.

Finally Trying It Out

Here’s what I wrote down while listening to the steps yesterday: (Please read the book for all the details and correct way of doing this or check out Hal’s podcast and listen to him explain it.)

S – Silence; I love noise but it was nice turning off the stressful covid-19 news this morning. I haven’t even turned the TV back on yet.

A – Affirmations; These go deep. Not the typical I love myself kind of affirmations but deeper.

V – Visualizations; Again, in depth

E – Exercise; This is a shocker for me. I spent about 5 minutes stretching and I can’t believe how my body is responding to it. Since I haven’t been out much in the last 5 or 6 weeks, my body really needed this today. It feels good.

R – Reading; Hard one. I read slow. I set my timer for 10 minutes and there went one of those time warps. Two or three pages later and my alarm was going off. Maybe 15 minutes will work better next time.

S – Scribing; Start with 3 things you’re grateful for. I haven’t slowed down enough to think about that for a long time. I see everyone else write about it but I just haven’t put much effort into it.

Have a great day everyone!

It’s time for me to start my work day now. Maybe I’ll be a little more focused and able to complete my tasks for the day without so many internal distractions. I hope you enjoy yours! Stay safe and healthy!!
