Painting the Trim Blue

painting windowsIt’s getting near the deadline for having all of my trim repaired and painted on my house according to the dreaded letter.  I did some of the scraping already and I started painting two of the windows.  I need to get them all done this weekend even though my daughter’s wedding is on Saturday.  Thankfully, I have a friend who is going to help.

The two windows that I’ve already painted look nice but the blue is not exactly the blue that I was going for.  Normally, I spend hours picking out a paint color.  This time, I was in a rush and grabbed the first blue that caught my eye.  Oops.  Not the best idea I’ve ever had.  It’s very blue.

Last time I painted it, I spent time and picked out a blue-ish gray color.  The one I finally chose was beautiful and I really loved it but now that it’s been a few years, it’s very drab. The new color is definitely not drab right now.  Maybe since it’s more blue than gray, it will stay brighter and not lose it’s color.

Painting It Blue

Do you think it’s too blue?

I liked the blue trim so much that when I needed a new roof last year, I picked out blue.  My house has boring white siding on it and while most people pick black to go with it, I wanted something different.  I wanted a little bit of color and painting the trim and getting a blue roof were the only way I was going to get it.

I really hope that the bright blue trim brings out the blue in the roof even more.  I can’t wait to see it all done.  I don’t think I’m going to have time or money to replace all the rotted wood this quickly so I’m hoping that a good paint job will be enough for us to pass the inspection.
