Some of These News Stories are a “Recipe for Disaster”

Today’s new disaster is a “Recipe for Disaster”. More people are cooking at home so there’s new growing concerns in kitchens and for the firefighters. People are burning their houses down because they’re making food their families instead of eating out. I don’t know what’s worse, the pandemic or the news that we’re subjected to because of it!

Apparently Americans have all forgotten how to cook. We don’t teach our kids enough kitchen safety. Adults have forgotten how to be safe. The firefighters are all being put at risk as they come to our rescue saving us from our atrocious cooking skills! We should order out every meal to keep the businesses going.

The word that comes to mind is pathetic. Our poor children have no idea what to do in a kitchen because we’re too busy to cook and now we’re all being scolded for it. Some of us love cooking and would love to teach our kids the basic but we just don’t have time so don’t try to tell me what I should be doing.

I might actually have to get rid of my TV entirely by the end of all of this.

  • Do hashtags have anything to do with hashbrowns? If I eat it and no one in Instagram is around to see it, do the calories still count? Cooking food on the highest setting means it will be ready faster, right?

In all seriousness, learning to cook at home has been such a blessing for our family. When I first started out, decades ago, I was clueless, as most Millennials are, but I’ve really come to love and cherish preparing great meals. It’s sad it has taken a global pandemic to force people to learn to cook, and sadder that people are burning down their homes int he process, but I do hope we’ll all end up healthier and happier for it, once this is all over.

    • Lol!!!! And I agree!! We’ve made tons of new, healthier things the last few weeks. I wanted subs the other day and someone suggested ordering out for them. But we made some delicious ones a few weeks ago that were better than any we could’ve ordered out so I said “Nope! We’re gonna make our own again!” And they were delicious 😊. So that’s not really cooking but we’ve done that with lots of other meals since staying home.

  • hahaha I saw this as an article headline but didn’t read it. I can make my own disasters! By the time our kiddos were in middle school, they were responsible for one dinner a week. Granted we sometimes had sandwiches with baked potato, but they planned and prepared it.

  • It’s awful, all the incidental side effects of this thing!! Not only the sickness itself, and the number of people dying, but all the negative effects of the global shutdowns. I am so glad I don’t own a TV!

  • I saw a great thing on Facebook recently A friend had marked herself safe from “whatever the media is telling us is today’s disaster!” Good post. Nice to know someone has some sense left!
