Undetermined Feelings

I was feeling really good last week. The work at home order was becoming a nice, very welcome routine. My house was straightening back up nicely. The upstairs bathroom was finished and plans were put in motion for the downstairs bathroom. The morning routine was a mess but getting better. And then the weekend happened.

I’m not sure what happened over the weekend. Sunday was beautiful outside and I spent the whole day outside. I like to do some of my eBay listings out there. Then someone brought me some raspberry bush clippings to plant.

Hole digging hasn’t been on my to-do list in a long time so I had to find a spot which involved a lot of moving things and digging. I woke up the next morning with sunburn and arms that hurt so bad I could hardly stand it.

I realized pretty quickly that they were sore from digging those holes which then made me think that maybe sitting at my desk wasn’t such a bad thing after all. Or maybe it was and I need to be outside digging more holes more often because I’m just that out of shape from sitting at a desk all the time.

Again, I have that feeling that there’s just too much to do and I’m overwhelmed with it all. But I’m also relieved that I don’t have to deal with traffic or any of that right now. Mad at my friends who get to stay home all the time pushing for everything to re-open immediately. Happy that things are actually getting done at home even if they cause some discomfort. Sad that I can’t go spend time with my horse. Very trying times indeed.

  • I really do think there is an evil purpose behind all the mixed messages too. And the whole shut down everyone- except the huge corp[orations!- so the economy will tank. Some people have called me a conspiracy theorist. But when a mother is ALONE in a park, with her children and gets arrested?? Something stinks like a rat.

  • They are very trying indeed😟. I am fighting to stay positive because we have my elderly mum living with us and I don’t want to drag her down, but it is hard. I have to remind myself that it could be so much worse if we lived in a high rise in a city and I think of those with no garden to escape to or a young family to keep happy and occupied. But I’m even starting to struggle with that thought on the days when I just want to go outside and scream. Why can’t you see your horse? That’s terrible. Over here, some of what we are being told we can’t do isn’t actually law – just guidelines, but most people aren’t challenging it because if you do, it looks like you are being ‘difficult’ with the police, no matter how polite people are being when they ask questions. And because the legislation they brought in when this happened was done quickly, without the usual debating, I don’t think our police really know the limits of it. There is no case law to refer to either so it’s all a gigantic, terrifying mess. But I think there will be lots of people challenging fines they have been issued with when the courts are functioning again. Hang in there – we are all feeling shaky I think.

    • My friend’s daughter where I keep my horse had a kidney transplant about a year ago and so she’s immunocompromised. Her doctors said they can’t have anyone on their property right now.
That’s another strange thing here. We’re told that we’re allowed to leave home, and many people do but it’s strange. One weekend, so many people went to the state parks that they closed them for the next 3 weeks. Most of them opened up again today but the weekend is supposed to be beautiful again so they’ll probably be closed again by Monday. The grocery stores are packed here on Fridays and Saturdays but that’s okay apparently. We don’t have a mask requirement yet but I hear of cities where you can get a huge fine for not wearing them. And I totally agree with you!! It is one huge terrifying mess!!!!

      • Oh gosh that’s awful about the parks. I saw one US video on YT where a mum got arrested at the park for challenging a police officer when they told her to leave. I agree, how come busy food stores are ok but healthy fresh air in parks is not?

Feels like the rules are being made up as we go along by a bunch of people who are either incompetant or evil. We have to queue now to get into our supermarkets as they only let a certain number in at a time. So one in one out, and we just stand and wait like sheep in pens because they have us fenced in.

The other day, a really big neanderthal looking guy was blatantly smoking a cigarette just ahead of us in the line. It’s against the law to smoke anywhere on private property, inside or out. The security guard at the door could clearly see him and did nothing. Cigarette smoke gives me a tight chest and makes me cough for about an hour after exposure.

When I spoke to the security guard about it, he was really rude to me. So I went to speak to the store manager who said if it happened again, I should jump the line, tell someone and they would probably relax the rule and let me go in, plus they would throw the smoker off the property if they caught him/her.

And yet the security guard had not challenged the guy. And then all the time we were shopping, this creepy, calm and seductive female voice kept coming over the loud speaker asking us to be cooperative with staff because customer safety is of paramount importance to the store. You cannot make this stuff up! So that trip, standing in line was a threat to my health. And security guard was telling ME I should have left!!!! Nothing makes sense anymore. I think that is the aim. And I’m sorry about your horse, that must be awful for you and him/her. Lets hope it all ends very very soon.

        • Wow that’s terrible about the cigarette smoking guy!! My daughter is the same way with cigarette smoke so she wouldn’t have done well there either. Prior to all of this, she would put a mask on just to get into stores because people who can’t smoke inside just stand right outside the doors here. I wish that wasn’t allowed here.

Nope, nothing makes any sense at all!! Everyday seems like a new episode of The Twilight Zone. You could be right, maybe they’re doing it on purpose.
