Next Thing on the List

Fact of the matter is, there’s so much to be done that it doesn’t matter what the next thing is as long as a job is getting done.

 Any job.

But where do you start when it’s so bad?

At the beginning of course!

Is the dishwasher unloaded?  It is? Great! Then load it up!

You could also start a load of laundry. Or even get all the dirty laundry in a basket. Take all the dirty dishes that are scattered around the house to the sink. Declutter three things. Take a bag of garbage out. Feed the pets. Throw out some junk mail.

Here’s another idea:

  • Pick a small area that you want clean or decluttered.
  • Every hour, find three things in the area to throw away or get rid of.
  • Next find homes for the things you want to keep and put them away.
  • Clean any furniture or appliances that are in that area.
  • Make sure the floor is clean around it too.

Try it with a cabinet or closet too!

  • Don’t pull out too much at one time!
  • Pick a shelf or a side or something like that where you can start.
  • Look for a few things to get rid of.
  • Now get rid of more if you can.
  • Wipe down the area to clean up any dust or residue that might be around.

If the whole house is mess, then pick a room and work on small areas in that room for awhile. You’ll be surprised by how fast the whole room cleans up when you do it this way!

As soon as you’re done, make sure to take the garbage out and then take any donation items to a drop off center. The sooner you get them out of the house, the better you’ll feel knowing that the stuff is going to a good home.

And when you realize that you don’t have to pick the same thing up for the hundredth time, you’ll feel just a little less stressed! Hopefully anyways!

Just remember, lots of little jobs done add up to one big job done!

Feeling a Little Better
  • That’s ok. When you are feeling better is the time to plan. I’m currently cleaning out my office and am amazed at the random “junk” that’s in there – documents that are so old I think Adam signed them. I just never threw anything out. Well, time for them go go now – the shredder is waiting…………………..

    • I’m always amazed too. Sometimes I’ll find a bag or box of papers, all from many years ago. Then I think that it’s like time stood still in that spot. I wonder what happened then that I just stopped throwing them away.
