The Christmas Countdown has just begun! Are you ready?
Christmas is only one month away so there’s not much time left to do everything we need to do! If you’re like me, the list is long!
When there’s always a mess in the house, Christmas can be stressful to say the least. Nothing is easy. It takes some extra effort when there’s clutter all around.
You can bring up the Christmas tree from the basement, but you have to clean a spot to set it up first.
You love making Christmas cookies, but you have to clear off the counters before dragging out any of the ingredients. Finding the mixing bowls can be a pain too.
Even wrapping presents is a challenge when there isn’t a flat surface in sight!
A few years ago, I was having a particularly hard year getting everything ready and waited until the last minute to wrap presents. Here it was, 11:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve and there wasn’t a single place in the house to wrap presents, except on my bed!
Do you know how hard it is to wrap presents on a bed? If you don’t, then I suggest that you make a plan while you still can so that you don’t have to find out on Christmas Eve! The back pain was agonizing and not only that, but it’s hard to pull the paper tight so the presents didn’t look great either.
We can make this year a little easier by starting to plan right now. Here’s a few things that we need to think about:
- The main rooms in the house should be two hours or less away from company ready – I’m thinking kitchen/living room/bathroom areas.
- Christmas Cards/Christmas Letters sent out soon
- Clearing a spot for the Christmas tree
- Putting the Christmas tree up
- Decorating
- Planning for meals
- Shopping for presents
- Wrapping presents
I wanted to put up the tree 3 weeks ago! But husband said No! Not till after Thanksgiving. I was mad, but he has to tote it in from the shed, so I’m forced to wait. 🙁
But the babies don’t live here anymore, so we do HAVE room for the tree. I guess that’s a plus. I have shopping all done for Sis, 2 babies, 2 nephews. Now, all I have left is MAma, 2 daughters, 1 bro and his wife. Half way there~~ I’ve done the bed thing before! Not happy pants, fer sure!! Last year, I had to use my computer desk. Even worse!!
Lol!! The computer desk would be hard for me too!! Woohoo!! Halfway done with gifts… that’s awesome! I need to get started soon. And I’m with your husband on this one…after Thanksgiving. I always did that the day after but I’m not ready for that this year either!
There is a lot of preparation for Christmas. This year Michelle and I will just kick back, set up a tree and enjoy a slower Christmas. Big gatherings of years past were fun, but left everyone exhausted. I want to enjoy it this year.
I agree! It’s exhausting! A slower Christmas this year will be a nice change of pace.
