The Crazy Week that Came Out of Nowhere

Last week was crazy!  I’m not sure how this kind of stuff happens but it does.  First I had a crazy solicitor end up at my door.  He was on the news two days later.  Then I tried to get some pictures printed so we could decorate the stall doors at the state horse show and the computer at Wal-Mart started on fire.  We left there and were waiting in a drive thru line and my truck overheated.  Ended up getting home really late that night.  As if that wasn’t all enough, the next day, my daughter and I watched in disbelief as three guys robbed our local Farm and Fleet.  It was noon.  On a very busy Friday.  Did they really think grabbing armfuls of tools and then running out the front door was a good idea?

All that started out our state horse show weekend.

The horse show was three days of hurry up and wait.  It was a test of patience and endurance.

I think we failed.  We’re exhausted.

As far as the show results go, my daughter only brought home one Top 10 ribbon but that’s okay.  We’ve decided that the journey is more important than the destination.  We go to have fun and spend time with our horse and some friends.  I’m sure my daughter would love to be a Grand Champion some day.  She certainly wouldn’t be upset about it but our horse, who is a champion to us, will probably never be one in the ring.  He’s getting closer but I think we’re going to start trying out different disciplines to see if there’s something else that fits him better.

The Exciting News this Month

Ok, the most exciting thing is that grandbaby #2 is on the way!  They’re planning on a February arrival.  The whole situation is still frustrating to me because they live too far away!  I can still count the number of times I’ve gotten to see my first grandbaby on two hands.  That’s really sad.  I’m thinking of taking a few days off in October to go see them and then maybe taking a week off once the new baby arrives.

The other exciting news is that my son finished my desk before he left for college!  Yay!! I absolutely love it!  It’s been six months in the making and it’s finally done.  I love the way it looks but one end is on the verge of being buried in one of the mountains of my living room.  I’m trying so hard to keep it cleared of junk but you know how the life of a hoarder goes!  I’m constantly fighting the clutter to keep possession of the clear space.  So far, we’re neck in neck… (or however that saying goes, it’s a tie basically!)  Now that I have a desk again, it’s a little easier to spend some time online.  The cats still jump up and lay on my keyboard but we’re working on it!  Hopefully, if other activities ever slow down, I’ll be here more often.  Take care everyone!

  • Congrats on the new family member!

I also wish our granddaughter was closer. It’s “only” 400 miles one way to visit her . We do the drive about once a month – drive up early Saturday morning, drive home Sunday afternoon. I’m not crazy – my husband says so!!

  • That’s a nice solid, honest desk… just gotta keep the cat off it! I taught mine no to desks, but occasionally he will catch me out and launch himself up on the keyboard, leading to much frantic backspacing.

    • Why do they always go straight for the keyboard?!?! I wouldn’t even mind if they were on the desk so much but they won’t stay off the keyboard! 😀
