The Mystery of the Dust and Spiderwebs

With the bedroom at a standstill, I decided to move onto the little area right outside the door. As I was looking around, I noticed that like the other rooms, this area has a lot of dust and spiderwebs. If it had been a long time since I’d been through this area, it wouldn’t be bothering me so much, but it hasn’t been that long. Where is all this coming from?

I did a little research and found the usual information. Dust comes from skin cells, pet dander, dust mites, outside, mold spores, outer space…. wait. What was that? Mold spores? Hmmm that’s suspicious.

However, this doesn’t really explain the spiderwebs. I’ll keep searching for more information.

Looking forward to some serious decluttering and lots of dusting! I’ve got some big plans for this little spot! Paint, 2 small windows, new valences, and maybe something new on the floor and it’ll look great. I can’t wait!

  • Jen, I’m pretty sure spiderwebs are our breath frozen in time! Then they collect dust. Check it out, pretty sure I’m right.

  • I’m thinking you would need to clear everything out of the room. Blitz it with the vacuum cleaner (sadly ridding any spiders in the process), and then put things back in there piece by piece, cleaning them as you go.

My mum always complained our old house was always so dusty, blaming the house and location, but when we moved it was little different; there were a number of reasons: it was rarely cleaned, there were smokers in the house, and quite a few people living there.

These days my most dusty room is my lounge which is down to there being a wood-burning stove in there which isn’t perfectly installed.
