Finding the Time for Decluttering and Some Organizing

I need some time management skills

A big part of the decluttering process evolves around finding the time for decluttering. So many other things are competing for every second of your day.

First of all, do you find yourself saying,  “I don’t have time” often? I do!

I never have time for anything.

How are some people able to accomplish so much in 24 hours while others, like me, constantly struggle to find 10 minutes to use the restroom?  How can others get so much done?  What’s at the heart of this major struggle?  What are some time management skills that might help?

For years, I thought that my house was a mess because I didn’t have time to clean it up.  I thought I worked too much and if I could just be home more, it would be better.  It would be clean and decluttered all the time.

Ha! Covid-19 and the stay at home orders burst that myth wide open.  I was home more but my house got worse.  It was not at all what I was expecting.

Next came the cancellation of most outside activities.  I still like going to see my horse once a week but I stopped going to the barn every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday.  I stopped doing anything 4-H related which previously took up a huge portion of my time.

But my house still got worse.

I basically stopped doing almost everything but work for the past 10 months and I still find myself saying that I don’t have time for decluttering, reading, working on my budget, or participating in hobbies.

Why do I feel like I’m always in a time warp that takes me through the days faster and faster every 24 hours.

Where is the productivity?

After much thought, I’ve decided that if I ever hope to finish this house, this time crunch is worth exploring in 2021.  Exploring in depth.

I’ll be spending some time, that I don’t have, building better time management skills and finding tools and resources that will help.

If you also struggle to find enough time, maybe one of these resources will help you too!!

A few things I’ve tried are already helping so I’ll be sharing them with you shortly!

  • I think we all are finding we aren’t into doing more during a pandemic. There are so many stressors on our plates right now. Taking care of ourselves and loved ones is more important. If I need to spend more time chatting with the kiddos, then that has priority.
