Keep Looking For A New House

Once we had gotten over the disappointment of not getting the far away, estate sale house, we decided to keep looking for a new place.

Things were moving fast in the real estate world so packing and decluttering became an everyday thing.

Neither one was going very good.

We had to finish something. Anything. Enough so that we could tell there was some progress.

Where do you start when things are everywhere?

Do you start with the easy rooms so that it gives you some momentum to keep going? Or do you pick the worst room so that the rest seem easy? Or do you start with small spaces like hallways, staircases or closets?

After thinking about this for awhile, I decided that getting the living room emptied out would be the most beneficial. That’s where the front door is and with how full the room was, it was hard getting through.

The room was already full of buckets and boxes of things. All we needed to do was haul it over to the storage unit. That sounds easy enough but there was a lot of stuff crammed into that room.

When did it get this bad?

The living room is full of things

It’s still crazy to me how you can live in a house like this and never realize that there’s just too much stuff. I mean, I knew there was too much stuff, but I really didn’t feel the need to get rid of it.

Anyways, I started hauling it out box by box and eventually got it down to a more manageable level.

In the meantime, I needed to keep looking because I couldn’t stand all the stuff crammed in the house.

Suddenly, I felt the need to get everything out. It was like I couldn’t stay trapped by all that stuff for another day.

Picking up steam, I must’ve taken 50 loads of boxes over to the storage unit.

Then one day while working, I looked out the window and saw these guys. Who would’ve known then that in a few weeks, they would add so much stress to my life??

Destruction workers

Things were getting stirred up in my life and soon everything would be topsy turvey and upside down.

And it would all be because of a phone call…..

  • Oh no!! I understand being overwhelmed!! So many times over the years! But always in a different house or apartment. I guess I carry the stuff with me?? Or maybe it’s that I carry the hoarding/ not getting rid of gene? Probably both is the real answer. Sorry you didn’t get the estate sale house!
