The Musty Smell From Old Papers That Filled My Truck

After spending all weekend working on the hoarder house, my truck was filled with a musty smell from all the newspapers and magazines. I couldn’t wait for the city drop off center to be open!

I picked up my mom and made her go with me since we’re doing this for her friend. When we got there, she said, “Can I just wait in the truck?” Ummmm.. NO!!

As I opened up the back door, papers started flying everywhere. It was hard to imagine how many boxes of papers were in there. My mom said that she thought there were only two boxes so that’s why she didn’t think she had to help or why we even had to take it to the dump in the first place. She kept asking me how I got that all out of the house without her seeing.

There was an empty dumpster open when we got there. It had one plastic bin and a plastic garbage can in it but that’s all. Some of the papers were hard for me to toss in because it was all so old and I have a thing for vintagey stuff. There were newspaper comics and Good Housekeeping magazines from the 1980’s. Lots of newspapers from the 60’s and 70’s.

Seeing Garfield was really nostalgic for me. It was one of my favorites when I was a kid and this newspaper was probably from that era.

It’s Easy To Throw Things Away When They Have a Musty Smell

Fortunately, the musty smell was terrible and I had no problem throwing it all in the dumpster anyways. It’s hard to tell how much was really in there from the picture but you can tell it’s a good ways up the side of the bucket on the left. Anyways, if you happen to see anything in the picture that’s worth a lot, please don’t tell me because I would be devastated.

After we got all the paper out and into the dumpster, we had a pile of boxes that we still had to break down. It’s just one thing after another with all that stuff! It feels never-ending! I’m so glad it’s finally out of my truck.

We didn’t even save any of the boxes even though they would’ve been great for this weekend because of the smell. So far, everything we’ve taken out of the basement and off the porch has had that strong smell. I wonder if there’s anything in that house that doesn’t smell?
