Packing Up Boxes While Playing the Waiting Game

Now that we had put an offer in on the house with the estate sale, it was time to start packing up boxes! Next, we let the realtor come over and see what we were dealing with. (Note to self: next time wait until things are a little better.)

Remember all the times he said it would all be okay? He was visibly nervous after walking through our house. Even though he was trying not to show it, we could all tell.

He had no idea how to help us with all the stuff in the house. Maybe if we could get everything into boxes, he could find some friends to help us load it up and take it to the storage unit. But that was the problem – there was too much to box up.

An Alternative to Plastic Bins

The plastic tubs that I had bought were long gone so I started looking for alternatives. It was obvious that we were going to need way more than what I could afford in plastic.

I never realized it before but moving boxes are kind of nice to have. Moving boxes were something I had heard of before but had never really seen around often. They were great through. I could fit a lot in one of them and they stacked up nicely in the storage unit.

This was a nice way to get a lot of things out fast. Since packing up random things all around the house wasn’t going so well, I decided that we needed to go area by area.

But where to start?

I kept telling everyone that when I wasn’t asking them to work on something specific, they should be packing up their bedrooms. With the boxes, I didn’t think that was such a hard request.

However, when your bedroom looks like this, packing up boxes isn’t all that easy.

I had the whole rest of the house to worry about so I was really counting on the kids doing their own rooms. They’re young adults so they really needed to do that.

This was a rough work week for me so there wasn’t a lot of time to get things done. I was already getting exhausted and we hadn’t even begun.

My son was also supposed to help during this week but for some reason, his girlfriend at the time decided she was going to move too and that he had to help her. It was so incredibly frustrating.

I was getting nowhere fast and then we got the news…
