But Are We Really Ready to Move?

After looking at the house with the estate sale, we all kind of liked it but we were nowhere near ready to move. We were starting to pack things up but hadn’t even made the tiniest dent.

The house also needed a lot of work but with what we can afford, we knew that would be the case with any place we found.

And this one had everything we were looking for in a property – ranch house, shop, horse barn, and enough land to bring the horse.

So, should we put an offer in? We weren’t sure because it was so far away. It was about 22 miles away from our house and it just seemed so far. Further than we were planning on moving.

In the meantime, back at the house, the amount of stuff in there was ridiculous. Every room still overflowing with clutter. There was just no place to go with it.

We started filling buckets but once we got them filled, there still wasn’t any place to put them so we had to start thinking about a storage unit. We were hoping to avoid spending the money but it was becoming obvious that there wasn’t going to be any other way to do it.

So we got a storage unit.

Since we were getting ready to move, we decided to rent a storage unit.

We got the biggest one we could which was a 10′ x 30′ unit. It was right around $200 a month. Ouch.

I needed things out of the way. The house was full. I could hardly even move enough to go through things.

On top of trying to figure out what to do with everything, we now had to make the huge decision of whether or not to put an offer in on the estate sale house.

We liked it, but it was so far away. It had everything we were looking for, but we weren’t ready to move yet.

What should we do?

The realtor couldn’t stay quiet. He told us that it was a really nice property and it would probably be a long time before we found something like this in the area that we were looking in. Plus, something similar would be about three times the price in the other area.

We went ahead and put an offer in. It wasn’t a particularly robust offer because we really weren’t ready to move and it was so far away. I figured that if it was meant to be, it would happen.

But did it?

We would have to wait to find out.

In the meantime, we would keep packing things up. Organization would be key in this whole ordeal. Something that I’m not so great at! LOL!

  • Moving is like living in Dante’s 7th circle!! Our storage is about $230 a month. And we have no hope of moving! So somebody decide to get rid of stuff! (looks at daughter, who looks back at me…)
