Remodeling the Bathroom

Remodeling my upstairs bathroom wasn’t on my to do list. The downstairs bathroom needs major, contractor type work so the upstairs bathroom has been the temporary place to take showers. It’s a tiny little bathroom that’s hard to move in.

Even though I had painted it years ago to what I thought was a lighter color than it was, it was still kind of dark. The toilet doesn’t work right so cleaning it isn’t a priority. A few floor tiles have come up over the years leaving little empty spots. The sink was so huge that it didn’t leave much room to get out of the shower and it was even a smaller one from when we moved in.

Since it will be a few more months before I get my main bathroom re-done, I’d been looking at a cute little sink and finally bought it a couple months ago. Then I started looking at flooring and found one that I really liked and picked that up too. I had idea when I would have time to put any of it in.

At Least the Virus is Good for Something

Thanks to covid-19, my son was sent home from college three and a half weeks ago. Perfect timing! After about a week and a half, he got so bored that he started working on the house. First, he cleaned the kitchen getting rid of lots of stuff and reorganizing all the cabinets. The best part is that I never even asked him, he just did it out of boredom!

Then this weekend, he said something about the huge sink in the upstairs bathroom and I told him that I had bought a smaller one and some new flooring so if he wanted to work on any of it to go ahead. And he did!

Since the room was half empty once he got the toilet out, we thought that maybe it would be good to just paint the room right away. Then we decided that the toilet paper holder, towel holder and hooks all really need updating too! So, we put in an online order and picked it up this morning all without actually going in the store.

I’m working from home so haven’t been able to help during the day. Between online classes, he’s been painting all day and has the first coat of paint up. Hopefully he’ll finish that tonight or tomorrow because I really need a shower! I can’t wait to post some before and after pics so watch for those coming soon!

  • Excellent! So glad he’s doing the work!! You can take what our family calls a “Ruby” bath, named after one of my great aunts. Get a little bucket/bin/dishpan fill halfway with water, and do a sponge bath! Better than nothing! 😉
