It’s the end of day four and I made my second trip to the donation center this week. I took one bag and a backpack this time.
Since I’m struggling to let things go right now, small trips seem easier to handle.
When the pandemic started, they made new rules at the donation center. They don’t let you get out of your car when making your donations. You’re supposed to put them in the trunk only, and then they open the trunk and get your donations out.
That’s all fine and dandy – unless you’re a clutter bug!
If you’re like me, there’s at least a few things in your trunk at all times. Then you have to separate the donations from the other stuff so they don’t take everything. That probably wouldn’t be such a bad thing!
I always take the truck with the least amount of other stuff in it just to make things easier.
Everything has to be in boxes that close so that they can leave everything sit for two weeks before sorting it.
Or that’s how it’s been anyways.
There’s an obvious flaw in this system because people here are impatient. They don’t want to wait for someone else to unload their car so they jump out anyways. It doesn’t matter how many signs are posted saying to stay in your car.
Today, there’s new signs up and blue bins with wheels sitting around with bright yellow signs on them.
Now you can put your donations in the blue bins yourself for a contactless experience. They’ll also accept things in bags or boxes. You can get out of your car and put them in these bins. Of course, they’ll still get them out of your vehicle if you’d like but I think this will help with the long lines.
That was the excitement on my second trip over there! Who knows what’ll change by the time I go again!
Have you been able to donate things throughout the pandemic? Any changes to the procedures?
I hate when people get out too, thinking they are entitled to not waiting. Their stuff is not different than my stuff!
