Concentrating on Small Little Areas This Week

This week, I’m going to concentrate on small little areas around the house.

You know how you pile stuff up in certain places where you think they’re out of the way? Those are the kinds of spots I’m talking about.

I’m using the bottom of the stairs as the example. A few weeks ago, I didn’t have any place else to go with the stuff that I pulled out of the bathroom last summer. I was keeping it to see if we would miss any of it. That spot at the bottom of the stairs seemed like a good place for it at the time!

After sitting around all those months, there had only been a few things that I went looking for. Nobody missed the rest of the things so we must not need any of it. So, since I wasn’t planning on keeping any of it, it didn’t take long to go through it.

Small Little Areas Before and After

Instead of all the junk being on the stairs, the kitty has a place to sit! Move the slider back and forth to see the before and after pics.

Please excuse that awful carpet on the stairs! That’s the number two project on the list for this year! I just have to figure out what I need to do with the stairs and then that carpet is getting ripped out!

Anyways, we’re not going for done here. Just going through clutter that has collected in small little areas around the house. You can keep what you need to keep but make a good effort to let some things go. If you can, do a little cleaning around the area too.

Also, we’re keeping it to one small little area per day for the whole week. Whatever isn’t finished will have to wait until next time.

For example, there’s way too many coats hanging in the hallway. But right now, they’re going to have to stay there until there’s room to hang them somewhere else.

Lastly, I’m going to be moving around the house to do this but if you want to work in a single room for the week, feel free to do that!

Tomorrow I’ll be going through the mail basket turned clutter collector by my front door.

Wondering what I got rid of from the bathroom?

  • 5 hairbrushes
  • 4 tubes of toothpaste
  • 6 toothbrushes – I could never figure out why we had so many used, unclaimed toothbrushes
  • 9 magazines
  • 2 decorative pictures – cute but major dust collectors
  • 8 make up items
  • Toothbrush holder
  • 20 hair ties
  • Empty bottle of hand soap – Why?
  • Shaving cream
  • Spray bottle – nice bottle but I have no idea what’s in it
  • 2 cleaning sponges
  • 1 iron
  • Wood towel rack – outdated, way outdated, like here when we moved in 20 years ago outdated.

There’s very few things in the bathroom now and I love it! It’s so much easier to keep clean.

Good luck this week!
