Real stressful that is! The day started with a big huge mistake and never quite got much better.
My son was bugging me to go to the store to get the rest of the stuff he needed for the bathroom. It was 6:30 a.m. and it was only a few things. Fine. I brought my latex gloves with me. Great! Grabbed a wipe for the cart and wiped the handle down, after the door guy had already wiped it. He informed me that he wipes them all down really well when he brings them in.
It’s a huge home improvement store so what was I thinking quick. There wasn’t much quick about walking through the entire store. By now it was getting close to 7 and every minute it seemed more and more people. We only needed one more thing when I started having an anxiety attack because I didn’t have a mask on.
My stomach started hurting right up into my chest. I was breathing rapidly probably sucking in 5 times as many germs as I would had if I had stayed calm. My heart was pounding. I was starting to shake and just wanted to get out of there. My son was like, mom stop it. We’re fine. So I got myself together, grabbed the last thing, and headed to the check out registers where lo and behold, the young cashier was wearing no gloves and no mask and looked perfectly happy to be there. Ugh. Stay home people.
My stomach and lungs still hurt tonight and I’m sure I’ll be sick in a day or two or five like they say. Then I’ll infect the rest of my family and all for what, a few stupid home improvements? And yes, I scrubbed my hands when I got home and wiped down the things I bought but couldn’t figure out how to clean my lungs out.
Is this what it’s going to be like when they finally end the safer at home order?
Your trip sounds like mine! My emotions were more anger “WHAT THE HECK! WHERE’S YOUR MASK?” than anxiety. The anxiety hit after I got back in the car and was frantically trying to disinfect the keys, my purse, my hands, etc.
