Throwing A Party in the Midst of a Mess

Yes, the house is a mess. Not sure what happened. After a month of company, the house just kind of imploded. But that’s okay, I’m still throwing a party in the midst of it all!

I think I mentioned it already but I have 4 kids who graduated from college in May with various degrees and I’m throwing a party next weekend!

Normally, this wouldn’t be a big deal but with this mess, I’m a little stressed! I’ll be working on it later tonight and then for the next week. I hope we can pull it off!

The mess I’m really referring to is how messy life is right now. Every time I start thinking about how much I love living here, something happens.

I was driving down one of the country roads yesterday and I couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful it is this time of year. My next thought was immediately, uh oh, now something bad is going to happen.

Could I have been any more right? We were heading inside last night and I tried to say something and my daughter said, “Shh”. I was like, what’s going on and she whispered that she would tell me when we got inside.

It turns out that the neighbor’s 20 year old son, who’s home from college right now, was yelling terrible things at her.

The most annoying thing that he was yelling was “Go back to the city!” What??? If you didn’t know the area, that statement wouldn’t even make much sense at all. What city does he think we’re from?

And if we didn’t buy this place, there’s a good chance that a developer would have and then they would’ve had about 5 families from “the city” living here. So what’s up with this kid? Did I mention that we’re not really from a big city either?

The whole thing is very strange. The reference to “the city” has to do with the proximity to Milwaukee. It’s not a great place and many people are moving out to the suburbs. It’s moved out so much that I definitely would not call where I’m living rural at all although it probably was about 15 years ago.

Anyways, there’s a lot of conflict between the older residents and the people moving in from “the city.” Most of the original residents like living out in the country, while the newer population complains about things like farm animals, dogs barking, weeds, and farm smells.

Seriously, why would you move out to the country if you like perfectly pedicured lawns and the smell of weed killer?

Along with the other things this boy was yelling, it really makes me wonder why the son of a physician would be so uneducated and rude?

It’s just another not normal thing in this new normal world that’s not normal at all.

Many other things are not normal at the moment either but I need to get cleaning! I’ll post more later. Time for some dash and stash!
