The Trailer Full of Junk Revisited

All the junk in the trailer is out now and the trailer is gone.

A little over two years ago, I wrote about the trailer full of junk in my driveway. Two years later, it’s finally gone.

You’re probably wondering why it took me two years to get that thing out of here. I’ve been wondering the same thing myself.

The reason why came to me a few weeks ago.

While working on my mom’s friend’s hoarded house, it didn’t take long to realize that a lot of her hoard was due to her not knowing how to dispose of anything. She’s always asking me if it’s okay to throw something in the garbage or if it should be donated or does it go in recycling.

My mom was carrying on about this a few weeks ago and as I listened to her, I realized that it was the exact reason why that trailer was still sitting in my driveway, full of the same junk that was in it two year ago.

I have no idea how to get rid of that kind of junk.

It was hard just getting it out of the trailer, let alone getting rid of it. It was full of things like tires and steel poles, and computer monitors and yard chemicals. There were old bikes and a broken plastic step stool. Just really icky stuff that I didn’t want to deal with.

There was also an old metal bathtub outside and a water heater in the basement that needed to go too. I’ve been trying to ignore it all.

I really didn’t want to deal with any of it and I’m realizing that’s how houses get hoarded also.

There’s still a lot of the stuff sitting in the yard but the trailer, bathtub, and water heater are finally gone. I’ll spend the next week or so dealing with the things that need to be dealt with. The whole time, I will be reminding myself that once I get it out of the yard, I will never have to deal with it again. It will be a huge relief!

Now, if I could just get the hoarding friend to see that too!

What’s one thing that you haven’t dealt with recently just because you don’t really know how to? Maybe someone here will have a suggestion to help you!
