Taking the Storage Room Apart Bit by Bit This Time

Even though it gets easier to get rid of things the more you do it, it’s still hard and so it’s bit by bit for me this time around.

I’ve been spending about an hour in there everyday. Some days, it’s all I can do to go through one box or one storage bin.

Somehow, I did manage to make one sweep through the room during the past week. I can get into the room now and there’s enough space to sit on the floor to go through buckets of stuff.

I’ve gotten rid of over 400 things from this room already. That’s just what I’ve counted and gotten out of the house. There’s 3 more boxes ready that need to be counted and taken away yet.

Sorting Struggles

Some days, I lose sight of the way I’m sorting. I keep some things for selling on eBay and some because I love them and don’t want to get rid of them. And sometimes, I throw those two things together because I’m keeping all of them. I really need to sort out the “to be sold” things from the “actually keep” things. They should be kept separate.

Hopefully it will get easier within the next two weeks. I went online and bought some collapsible storage bins and a shelving unit. Yay! The shelving unit is the same one that I have on the front porch but the bins are different. They have a clear side so it will be easier to see what’s in them and I like that they’re collapsible.

The new shelving unit set up will be for the eBay things. They’ll be on one side of the room and the other side will be the storage bins full of the things I’m keeping. It’s very important to do the planning first and that’s the initial idea anyways. It might change a little bit.

Finishing Up Bit by Bit

Like the front porch, I’m taking my time to get through everything so I don’t get too overwhelmed. But not too much time. I’d still like to be done in the next two or three weeks so I can move on to the next project.

Here’s one of the reasons that it’s so hard and might take longer than I’m hoping for. Today, I found the kids really cute Christmas stockings from their grandparents. How could I ever get rid of these?

Cute christmas stockings that I found in the storage room. I can't get rid of them.

The room has been too bad to post pics so far. You can’t even tell what’s what in there. Hopefully by the end of this next week, I’ll be able to post some.

P.S. Just wondering if you’ve had a chance to check out my new resource page yet? I put some books on there that I’ve read. These have all helped me tremendously. One of the most important ones to me is The ONE Thing. This book is helping me with the time crunch problem I’ve been having. I think that’s part of the reason that I’ve already gotten so far in the storage room this week.

    • Lol!! That’s evil genius! But make sure you aren’t at their house on the day they’re receiving it haha!

  • You are on a roll! Isn’t it a nice feeling when you make noticeable changes. I always feel so light even if it is a small space.
