The News Was Exciting but We Still Had to Sell the House

Everyone thought that the news that they accepted our offer was exciting but I was a little hesitant. It meant that I would have less than two weeks to finish emptying our house out.

When I say “I” that’s exactly what I mean.

I knew that as soon as it came down to it, everyone would fail me and they did.

Of course they were excited but one had work, two had school, and one had an anxiety attack that lasted until I was done. All excuses in my book but I didn’t have time to argue with any of them.

I would spend almost 10 hours a day working and then another few hours packing and hauling things to the storage unit. They closed at 9 p.m. and I would usually be over there until a few minutes before.

Then I would get home and pack some more.

Underneath all the stuff, there would be plenty of repairs that needed to be done. I had no idea how I was going to finish.

I decided at one point that I needed to get the kitchen done. Once I emptied it, I could have someone come clean it. It seemed like a great idea until the cleaning lady refused to clean.

It would’ve been great to go through the whole house that way but apparently that wasn’t going to work. Now I had cleaning to do on top of getting everything out.

This process wasn’t going well and it certainly wasn’t very exciting.

It seemed like everyone else thought the house would just get itself ready for the sale, or that we could just let people walk through the hoard and they would love it. It was like being in The Twilight Zone.

One family member kept hearing about the crazy real estate market at the time and thought for sure that the house would sell without anyone even walking through it

What planet was I living on?

I just ignored them all and kept on working as hard as I could.

The road construction was annoying but wasn’t causing too many problems. There were days that the driveway would be blocked but they would get done for the day at about the same time that I finished working.

This kitchen was too dirty for the cleaning lady to clean it. That was not exciting news.
