It Was Great to Get An Offer on the House

We were thrilled that we had gotten an offer on the house.

While everyone else in the area was getting offers over their asking price, we were happy that ours came in right at the asking price. We had lowered our price $10,000 from the previous weekend in hopes of getting a quick sale.

While we were so excited to get an offer, the stress wasn’t over yet.

Even though the house was being sold “as is”, the buyer still wanted an inspection done and added it as a contingency.

The realtor was already figuring the lowest offer we could accept in order to get the new house.

There was no way that I would’ve gone down to that number though. He really was a great realtor but I don’t know what he was thinking.

The house was looking really good. It was still bigger than most of the houses in the neighborhood and it was already priced $50,000 lower than the others. We had done that because of the work that would be needed on the bedroom wall so there was no reason to go down much lower than we already had.

We were holding our breathes waiting for everything to come in and praying that the new ensuing offer on the house wouldn’t be ridiculously low.

The inspection was first.

This inspection would determine the fate of everything. I still wasn’t worried though. I couldn’t worry because my body couldn’t handle anymore stress so whatever happened would be okay. All I needed was that verse that my grandpa had sent me. I kept reading it every day.

Just like we had watched the showings, we were watching the inspection. The buyer was there with him and they went through everything. Almost two hours later, they left.

Twenty four hours later, we finally heard from the buyer’s realtor. Our realtor was expecting the worst and we were ready to decline if the new offer was too low.

None of us had anything to worry about. Our realtor couldn’t believe it. He almost had tears in his eyes when he gave us the news. The buyer was only asking for a $5,000 credit. Our realtor said that everyone asks for a $5,000 credit, even on a much newer house. He couldn’t believe it.

But I could because my grandpa was there in spirit helping things go right.

I loved that house and the buyer was really getting a good deal. He knew that and he was so excited!

Next came the appraisal. This was stressful but I was still keeping it cool. Since this only took about a half hour, we just put the cats in the truck while he went through the house.

So many hoops to get through.

But no worries there either. The house passed the appraisal with flying colors.

The closing on the new house was only a few weeks away and we were still in the game!

I didn’t want to get too excited though because nothing ever seems to go quite right for me.
