One Week In and There’s What We’re Looking For

About one week after I started packing things up, I was at a friend’s house visiting. I told her that we were thinking of moving in the near-ish future but we didn’t know what a bank would lend us. We weren’t sure if we could afford the kind of property we were looking for.

Since she had recently bought her house, she gave me the name of her mortgage broker. It was a friend of hers that she highly recommended. I called the next day just to see if she could tell us what we could afford.

Within two days, she had us all approved and told me to find a realtor. She said that she knew one that was excellent. She said he’s the best one that she works with and she gave me his first name and number. I hung up with her and did a little digging. Lo and behold, it turns out that I knew him! That made it so much easier to give him a call!

And what a small world. When do things ever go this way?

The very next day, my daughter brings her phone to me and says, “Hey look at this house that was just listed. It’s a little far away but it’s what we’re looking for.” I called the realtor, he got it scheduled, and we were there a few hours later.

But just to show the realtor what we were looking for…

My daughter was right about it being further away than I was looking for but she was also right that it had everything we were looking for. We figured it would be the easiest way to show him. I felt bad having him drive that far since it was further than we wanted to go but he was okay with it.

We went to the showing but there was nothing normal about this showing. Just like the way everything had gone the few days previously, things were strange from the minute we pulled up.
