What do you do when you get stuck decluttering?

Why is it so hard?

I don’t know why but I’m really struggling to let things go. Even after giving myself permission to get rid of things that I don’t feel like listing on eBay, I’m still stuck.

A trip to the Goodwill donation area today was helpful. I had a small box of things and a pair of welding boots that I dropped off. It cleared a small area of space on my living room floor and I was able to vacuum that spot.

That little bit helped a whole lot.

I know that I say it all the time but I think baby steps really help when it comes to decluttering. It would be so nice to have it gone with the snap of our fingers but that never seems to work.

Slow and steady wins the race.

I’m hoping this is only temporary and that a few more trips to drop things off at Goodwill will help. Just getting a few things out really helps clear the mind a little bit.

Tomorrow I’ll be starting a new decluttering campaign. I have to get the front porch and driveway done this week.

Since I’m having such a hard time, I’m sure there will be a few hours this week where the three things will be pieces of mail but every little thing helps. Don’t worry about how small the things you’re getting rid of are. It’s really not the size, it’s the quantity that counts in this case. At least in the beginning.

This is going to be a week of hard decisions but I have a goal that I’m working on and this is the only way to accomplish it.

Have you ever thought about getting a storage shed when you got stuck?

We’ve been talking about getting a storage shed just to clear out someplace to work on it but I really don’t want to do that. That’s such a huge waste of money in my opinion. They have their place but renting one simply because you have too much stuff means you simply have too much stuff.

Get ready! It’s going to be a fun week!

  • I have been thinking; what was it that I threw or gave away and am desperately missing now?
maybe one or two kitchen items, that is all
I need to declutter my home myself – stuff are creeping on quite easily

    • That’s a good idea!! I don’t really miss more than a few things I got rid of either.

Stuff sure does creep in! It felt like I was only bringing home a few things here and there to sell on eBay and I haven’t been shopping in months because of the virus. Yet, all of a sudden, my whole house is full of stuff!
