The party was on Saturday and it was a success!
About 40 people came and I had more than enough food. We even had enough leftovers for lunch for 15 yesterday!
Since the party was going all day, open house style, I set it up so we would have about three different rounds of food.
The first round was little ham and turkey sliders. They turned out great and the kids were still talking about them yesterday. I also had some spinach dip with sourdough bread, potato salad, and a beautiful strawberry dessert made with strawberries from the garden.
The second round was around dinner time. We had pulled pork sandwiches. I bought way too much – like maybe 6-8 lbs too much. With that, we had baked beans, different potato salad, pasta salad, taco dip with chips and guacamole and a bowl of strawberries.
After dinner, we had cake. It was getting to be later in the evening so people started leaving. I never even got the third round of food out. It was mostly chips and dip and I still have them It’s okay because we’re still feeding extra people for the next few days.
Beyond the Party Food
The weather was great the whole day. It stayed right around 72 degrees F with a nice breeze and the sun was out all day!
The kids and adults all had a great time in the strawberry patch picking strawberries. I just wish I could figure out a way to get rid of those thistles!
Thankfully, someone had brought a few games for the kids and I had a bunch of bubble guns in the basement. The bubbles were a hit! Someone even ran to the store to buy a big bottle of bubbles since they were going through them so fast.
It’s so great being able to throw parties and have friends over without worrying about a mess. Since I haven’t been able to in so long, I was worried about this one but everything went off without a hitch!
I’m pretty sure it’s almost time for a dumpster though!
