Washing the Vintage Flowers in the Bathtub

Flowers in the bathtub so I can try to wash the smell out

One of the things that I kept from the hoarding friend’s house was a big bunch of plastic flowers. I kept finding them all over the place and she was willing to let them go. Most of them are in pretty good shape except for the smell. Since they’re from the 1960’s, the colors are really interesting.

I didn’t keep them to keep them. Her oven is broken so I thought these would be perfect to put on eBay and then once I make enough money from her things, I could get her a new convection or toaster oven. She needs something to cook in besides a microwave.

Not much coming out of her house is salvageable because of the strong smell. Since I haven’t gotten much to sell, I was hoping the smell would come out of the flowers if I used my Dawn Power Wash (awesome stuff) and then rinsed them off good.

Washing them kind of worked. They smell like a combination of Dawn and dusty basement now but the basement smell is much weaker.

I love all the oranges and pinks. There’s a few turquoise ones that are really pretty too. These flowers are pretty unique so it shouldn’t take too long to sell them. I just need to decide if I’m going to sell them in small batches or just put them all in one big group.

The flowers at her house are one of the things that drive my mom crazy. She can’t stand all the dusty flowers that are all over the place. They’re in every room of the house. The newer flowers are all silk flowers but they’re still a few years old and very dusty.

I’ll try to get these listed over the weekend. There’s a few more things she let go that smell really bad so I’ll be trying to clean and list those too.
